Bible Questions with Michael Pearl – Episode 003:

Michael Pearl: All right, here we are. Mike Pearl and Jared once again to answer your Bible questions. I have not heard these questions yet. Jared’s going to play one for me now and we’re going to see what kind of answer we come up with.

Stella Gearhart: Hi. My name is Stella Gearheart. We were reading in Genesis nine and we were talking about how Noah was 950 years, and then he died. I was wondering why don’t we live that long anymore? Thank you. Bye.

Michael: Genesis Chapter 9, reading about Noah’s age. There’s no point in turning to that. We had a Bible study there and we had each student to examine the Book of Genesis, and all the way through the historical book and create a graph of the ages. It’s very interesting. In other words, you put down Noah. Noah lived so many years. Excuse me, Adam lived so many years and you put down your 100 year marks. Then, you come down like diagramming a sentence and you put Shem and you put down how long he lived. He lived a little longer. You work right on down.

You’ve got Noah and, then after the flood, you’ve got Shem, Ham and Japheth. So, we listed all of those ages to find out how long how they lived, and we noticed something. If you convert that into a graph, for instance, you’ll find that starting with Adam who lived to be almost 1,000 years. It continued like that. But, there started to be a decline slightly up ’till the flood.

Then, after the flood, those four who were born before the flood lived well past 600, 700 years. But, those who were born after the flood, their ages dropped down to 120, 130 years. Then, it declined up until the time of David to about 75 or 80 years old.

So, it’s obvious that there was some kind of effect that sin had upon the human race. Man was originally created to live forever and sin brought a curse upon us. And so, probably the genetic pool degenerated. I can’t really tell you what it was in a medical sense. But, something happened to the human race as a result of sin.

Maybe it was a failure to access the tree of life. But, slowly, man’s life span dropped off for 2,000 years. And after about 2,500 years from creation, God told David. He said, “Your life span will be 72 years. If by reason of strength, it will be more.”

So, that remains about the lifespan of man ‑ about 72 years. So, it’s obviously something that had to do with the fall, and with the result that sin brought to the human body that brought degeneration. We’re not told otherwise.

Bible Questions with Michael Pearl – Episode 002:

Michael Pearl: All right, here I am, Mike Pearl, and Jared is sitting behind the camera. We’re going to answer your Bible questions today. I have not seen these. Jared, what’s the first question?

Jared: I know what scripture says about Jesus. I believe he bore my sins, died, and rose again. Sometimes I feel very secure in my salvation, but other times I’m quaking in fear of eternity because I’m not sure I’m saved. What gives?

Michael: All right. I like that question. Some people would give you four or five verses from the Bible, something like John Chapter three or 4, where he says, “He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18). He that believeth is not condemned but has everlasting life. And then they would say to you, “Do you believe God’s a liar?” Well, no, God’s not a liar. “If God’s not a liar and he says if you believe, you’ve got eternal life. Do you believe?” Yes, I do. “OK, therefore unless you’re going to call God a liar, you’ve got to believe you have eternal life.”

And so that’s kind of a mind game that some people might get you to play with yourself to have confidence. So you try to tell yourself that you’ve complied with all the demands of believing and therefore you must be a Christian. I’ve known people that wrestled with that for three or four years, or 10 years, or 15 or 20 years, before they finally got saved.

Listen, when you know the Lord Jesus Christ, you don’t have those continuous gnawing doubts. Now I do know some people who’ve been saved and have had some doubts, but they’re always reconciled one way. The doubt is always resolved one way. And that is from hearing the Gospel and believing it.

You get saved by hearing the Gospel and believing, and you get assurance by hearing the Gospel and believing. Same place you get saved is the place you get your assurance. So what you need to do is hear more of the Gospel.

Now, 10 minutes, 15 minutes is not going to suit you. What you need is to get the Book of Romans and go through it. We have online free for you the Book of Romans, teaching all the way through it. I guarantee you, you listen to Romans Chapter 1‑8 online, listen to it carefully, and when you get through you will know whether you’re saved.

And if you’re not, you will have what it takes to be saved. And if you’re saved, you’ll be able to rejoice with confidence.

See, faith is not in the abstract. Faith is not some resource I have within that reaches out and grabs a hold. It’s not the hands of the soul. Faith is my response to facts. Faith is the inevitable response to facts. Facts you get from the word of God. You don’t get facts from within, you get them from without, from the word of God.

Someone said it’s like faith, facts, feelings. You don’t have the feelings of being saved, and you’re wrestling with that. Well, go back to the facts. Facts, faith, feeling. The facts come first. And the facts are what you get out the word of God. Not your experience, not what happened to you, but what Jesus Christ did on your behalf.

So go back and get those Romans free and follow it all the way through and you’ll come to confidence in your salvation.

Bible Questions with Michael Pearl – Episode 001:

Michael Pearl: Hi, I’m Michael Pearl. We’re going to be answering some of your Bible questions. Now I haven’t seen any of these questions, so they’re going to kind of catch me by surprise here. But we’re going to see what you’ve been writing in and what your concern is, and try to answer them for you.

Jared: 1 Timothy 6:10 says: “For the love of money is the root of all evil.” Wasn’t the first sin disobedience unrelated to money – for Adam and Eve knew nothing of money?

Michael: All right, that’s a very good question. And I am turning here in the Bible to the Book of Ezekiel, Chapter 28. How is it that the love of money is the root of all evil? Now, all we have to do is examine sins in the lives of different individuals and know that there’s lots of evil on this earth that does not have money as the source of it. For instance, there are lots of tribal people who don’t use currency and don’t use money. So how could money be the root of their evil? They’re people who have never had contact with the outside world.

But the fact is, the Bible says money, the love of money, is the root of all evil, and so it must be true. Now in Ezekiel Chapter 28 the Bible speaks of a character called Lucifer. Lucifer is an anointed cherub created by God to exist around his throne, who was in charge of a planet prior to our existence here on this earth. That planet was named Eden.

He said in Ezekiel 28:13: “Thou hast been in Eden, the garden of God.” That’s how come there was a Garden of Eden. “Every precious stone is thy covering.” The topaz, so forth. He says in Verse 14: “You’re the anointed cherub.” He said, “You’re perfect in all your ways until iniquity was found in thee.” He says, “Oh, covering cherub.” That was his occupation; he covered the throne of God – as in Revelations Chapter 4 and 5.

“From the midst of the stone of fire, you lifted up your heart because of your beauty, because of your brightness.” But he said, “I will cast you down to the ground.” And he said, “Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffic. Therefore will I bring thee forth out of the midst of thee…” and so forth, so forth, so forth.

And so the sin of Lucifer, the first individual who sinned prior to Adam, the sin of Lucifer involved trafficking. The sin of Lucifer involved merchandising. Read Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28.

And so this was prior to the creation of Adam and Eve. It was on this planet that it occurred. It was a race of male beings that God created, and they had a hierarchy of power. They had cherubim at the top, and then seraphim, and then under that was angels.

And sin occurred under one of the leaders, Lucifer. And he drew, as the Book of Revelations tell us, one third of the angels with him in this rebellion. Therefore in Genesis Chapter one and two when we find Adam and Eve being created, we find that there already exists at that point a disembodied creature named Lucifer, the serpent, the Devil. And he is there as an evil person to tempt Adam and Eve, sin having already occurred.

So Lucifer was there tempting Eve, beguiling her to sin. So his sin, the love of money, was the root of all sin that resulted in Eve’s temptation and her fall, so that all sin can be traced back to that first act of sin committed by Lucifer, which involved trafficking, the love of money.
